´Waking up in strange cities and in rooms you don´t feel at home in is one of the experiences of travellers.´ Be aware of a surprise! Otto Ernst Wiesenthal, the owner of the Altstadt residential hotel, himself a traveller who spent more than twenty years gathering experience all over the world, will prove you that it can be different. Feel yourself at home. All the rooms have been designed to meet individual needs, none of them is alike. The Altstadt Vienna occupies a converted Patrician house firmly entrenched in one of Vienna´s oldest districts, the Spittelberg, which offers both, a historic ambiance and a close location to the city. It´s a short walk to the next subway station, and only 5 minutes to Vienna´s best shopping street, the Mariahilferstrasse. More than 100 restaurants, coffee houses and bars around the hotel provide the best choice in Vienna. Our house consists of individually designed rooms and suites, the rooms are between 25 and 35 sqm, suites between 50 and 110 sqm. In June 2006 9 other rooms, designed by the Italian star-architect Matteo Thun have been opened and contribute to the elegant but cozy atmosphere of the Altstadt Vienna. The English-style Red Salon accomodates the superb breakfast buffet as well as a bar, where our guests can relax next to the open fireplace. In the afternoon we serve complimentary tea and cake for our guests. All our rooms and suites are individual, none of them is alike. Make your choice and come again to visit the other rooms! We have stylish rooms, suites and junior suites in 5 different floors of a Patrician house. The interior is typical Viennese design with parquet floor, high ceilings and classical design, but we also have modern rooms. Since the owner of the hotel has a large collection of art, he uses the house and the rooms as showroom for his paintings.
